It has only been a few days since Google rolled out the Android 5.1 update for some devices. Now Google is ready to release the next iteration – Android 5.1.1. This has come to notice after the Android SDK displayed ‘Android SDK Platform 5.1.1’ product description.
SDK showing the Android 5.1.1 update means that Google is almost ready with this update and in the final stages of rolling it out to the devices.
There were some of the devices that missed the Android 5.1 update – Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi and LTE), Nexus 4, Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi and LTE) and Nexus 7 2012 (3G). According to some sources Google will directly push out the Android 5.1.1 update for them.
Android 5.1 was expected to provide a lot of bug fixes. But some of the issues still persist. The memory leak bug was not solved in the previous update which resulted in a lot of app crashes. Memory leak fix should be the most important bug that should be solved in this Android 5.1.1 update.
