Google I/O is scheduled on 28th and 29th of this month and some major announcements can be expected. One of those could be the next version of Android and it has been called Android M by the Google insiders. According to sources, Google M will have the native fingerprint functionality.
Apple was the first to introduce the fingerprint functionality to the smartphones with the iPhone 5s. Since then many have tried, but Apple has set the benchmark.
Ex-CEO of Motorola Dennis Woodside admitted that the little dimple found on the back of the Nexus 6 was supposed to feature a fingerprint scanner, but Motorola ultimately decided to pass because Apple bought the good fingerprint scanning company.
If Google adopts the fingerprint feature, then we will see it in most of the Android devices as well. Google I/O is expected to be another big event this time and the announcement of Android M will only make it bigger.
