At this years Google I/O, Google made many major announcements and one of them was Android One. It is the program which is aimed for the emerging markets. It will offer devices with a low price but with good specs and latest Android OS. Android One program is set to debut in India, this September.
Many Indian manufacturers like Micromax, Karbonn, and Spice have a tie up with Google and they will be the first to launch products based on it in India next month.
According to reports, the devices of this program will feature dual SIM slots, SDcard support, a 5 megapixel camera, quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, and a 1700-mAh battery. The handsets will come with displays in the region of 4.3 to 4.5 inches, and will all run on Android KitKat 4.4.4.
Android One devices are also expected to get the Android L update. With the price of these devices expected to be just above the $100 range, it will be interesting to see how this program fares in the emerging markets.
