Apple today launched for the first time ever, two iPhones at the same event: the iPhone 5c along with the iPhone 5s. The 5s is going to be Apple’s flagship device whereas the 5c will be a less expensive, toned downed version of it. And unsurprisingly as previously mentioned, it will be available in a variety of colors with a polycarbonate plastic back.
It has the same 4 inch Retina display as the iPhone 5 along with the A6 processor. As reported earlier, it will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera and an improved front facing camera for better video calls. The 5c also includes 802.11 a/b/g/n dual band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 as well as more LTE bands for world coverage. It also boasts of an improved battery life with a standby time of 250 hours as compared to 225 hours of the iPhone 5.
And confirming our earlier reports, the handsets will be available in 5 vibrant colors: blue, white, pink, yellow and green. The 16GB 5c will be available for $99 on a two year contract whereas the 32GB variant will be available for $199 for the same contractual period. Apple will start taking pre-orders from September 13 and the device will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, and the UK from September 20. Apple has also designed some new cases to match the phone that will be available for $29.99.
