Blackberry Priv was launched last year and it did average business. Around 600,000 Priv devices were sold. Now Blackberry are working on two new Android devices and they are codenamed “Rome” and “Hamburger”.
Rome will have a keyboard while Hamburger will have a full touch display. The designs of both the phones will be different.
According to the sources, both the devices would cost around $400 and will be launched sometime before June 2016. One can assume that both will run Android Marshmallow.
Blackberry CEO revealed earlier this month, “Since I started at the company [in November 2013] I’ve been saying I’ll make the handset business profitable. If I can’t make it profitable because the market won’t let me, then I’ll get out of the handset business. I love our handset business, but we need to make money.”
All this comes after Blackberry posted losses of $238 million in the fourth quarter of FY2016.
