OnePlus One was launched last year and it was marketed as the flagship killer. It did good business and lived to its hype with demand for this device is still strong. Building on the success of last year, OnePlus are set to launch another device this year – OnePlus 2.
A few weeks back there were a lot of rumours of the OnePlus 2 launch getting delayed. A Chinese social network quoted OnePlus CEO Carl Pei saying that the OnePlus One would still be popular for this year. This was wrongly understood as a launch delay for this year’s device.
Carl Pei has come out to dismiss all these rumours. He tweeted that device is still on track and the launch is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
Carl Pei had said earlier, “We are planning to announce the OnePlus Two in Q2 or Q3 next year. So it is one after this phone (OnePlus One). OnePlus 2 should be out in Q2 or Q3 of 2015. By that time, I’d think Android L would be standard. We’ve seen a lot of people asking for a smaller device, and want to let everyone know that we hear you. We’re thinking about it.”
OnePlus are planning to make this year’s device even better. It will have all the flagship specs while the plastic body will be replaced by a metal one.
