The CyanogenMod team recently went commercial by announcing the formation of the Cyanogen Inc. This giant step was taken with a view to raise some capital which will be aimed at making their ROMs more stable, more widely available for many more devices and making them easier to install. The newly formed company gained a $7 million startup capital from Benchmark along with a hardware partnership with Oppo.
At the recently concluded Big Android BBQ, the Cyanogen Inc. made a major announcement with regards to its future plans for their highly sought after ROMs. The new ROMs will be released in two separate editions: the community edition and the pro edition.
The community edition ROMs will be the same ones that have been available till now. Users have to root their devices first, then flash the CM ROMs. You have complete access over your device and can do with it what you want.
The pro version ROMs will be the ones that will come with the easy to use CyanogenMod installer and may be the ones that will be running on the Oppo N1. These ROMs will be beneficial to users who aren’t that much comfortable in flashing and rooting their devices. As a result, it will not come pre-rooted, although users can easily do it later. And both the editions will still be free of cost.
Along with this announcement, there was also some details shared about the new features that will be included in these new builds. These include remote display framework, live folders, unified messaging, secure messaging, new theme option, gallery ++, launcher ++ and many more.
