A few hours ago, an Android 4.3 system dump was leaked for the Nexus 4. The Android 4.3 has many minor changes and one of them is the updated Google Play Store.

In the Android 4.3, the Google Play Store version 4.2.3 can be found. The latest Play Store currently used by Google is 4.1.10.

The Google Play Store 4.2.3 has some sort of additions related to the new functionality for restricting user access to Google Play. This is suspected to be for the multi-user situations, where the primary user doesn’t want secondary ones to be able to install things, but this cannot be confirmed yet.

Another theory that is doing the rounds is that it’s possible that this new functionality is meant for restricting Play Store’s usage on devices that aren’t licensed to use it and don’t come with it pre-installed.

The APK of the Google Play Store 4.2.3 is available. It is signed by Google and upgrades your existing Play Store. It means that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Google may take some time to push it through for various devices. Instead, download the APK and install it using any file manager.
