When Jelly Bean 4.2 was introduced, many new features were seen like gesture typing, expandable notifications, a new look Google Search as well as a new lock-screen. The lock-screen has undergone many changes with the change in the Android OS. The Jelly Bean lock-screen has a ring in the center with different options available while swiping in different directions. This idea was favored by many users but it was only available on the Jelly Bean OS. Not anymore !

Android users who are on Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and below can get a Jelly Bean style lock-screen. For this purpose an app named Holo Locker must be used. Holo Locker is a simple and fast lock-screen replacement, based on stock Jelly Bean lock-screen.

It not only acts as a lock-screen replacements but also offers lots of customization. The default option is swipe to left for camera app, swipe upwards for the Google Search app and swipe towards right for unlocking the device. But user can customize it and select the desired apps.

Some other features of Holo Locker include:

  • Holo Locker supports system security lock
  • Ability to customize text color
  • Emergency unlock
  • The user can enable/disable vibrator
  • Option to change screen orientation
  • The user can hide the status bar
  • It is also possible to disable the status bar

Holo Locker

There are both free and paid versions of the Holo Locker on the Google Play Store. Holo Locker Plus is the paid version. However, it is not a separate app. It just acts as a license key to the Holo Locker. The user must install Holo Locker before using Holo Locker Plus.

Holo Locker Plus unlocks additional features – support alternative wallpaper, option to change background tint, unread count notifications for call, sms, gmail and K-9 mail, customizable notification badge color, left, right, top and bottom shortcuts customization.
