Motorola recently launched the much awaited Moto X smartphone. Along with the variety of customizing options offered, another feature that caught the eyes of Android users is its Active Notifications feature. This feature automatically informs you of new messages by lighting up the lockscreen. When you receive a notification, the screen of your smartphone turns on with a small display and with a swiping gesture, you can jump directly to the displayed message. This feature can now be used in your ICS and JB phones using the ActiveNotifications app.
The app is quite easy to use. With a swipe up gesture, you can see more details about the notification. With a swipe down gesture, you can unlock the device. And a left or right swipe gesture dismisses the notification. You can also select which app notifications you would like to receive from the app. The app also allows you adjust the brightness to be displayed when the screen lights up, a sleep at night feature, extra piracy options as premium features within the app which can be unlocked with an extra fee.
The app is currently completely compatible with phones running Android 4.3 and has been tested successfully on the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, 7, 10, and the Google Play edition of the S4. Support for Android 4.1.2 to 4.2 is in the experimental stages with the developer trying to increase its compatibility with more phones.
The app can be directly downloaded from the Google Play Store from here.
