Google’s next Nexus smartphone will be manufactured by HTC. Several sources have confirmed this news. For the first time since 2011, when the first phone in Nexus series was launched, Google and HTC will be in partnership for a Nexus phone. The first Nexus was Nexus One and it started the popular Nexus series.
This year also, two Nexus devices will be launched and both will be HTC manufactured – a 5″ display phone and a 5.5″ display phone. Both the devices have been assigned codenames as T50 and T55 respectively.
Neither Google nor HTC has confirmed these rumors. There will be more clarity during Google I/O 2016 developer’s conclave.
The last Nexus device by HTC was in 2014 when they made a tablet. It did not receive quite a great response and HTC would want to correct it.
HTC has had a couple of bad years in 2014 and 2015 and they will be hoping that the Nexus devices can resurrect them.
