Many things were announced at the Google I/O last month. One of the things which were a part of it was the Android One program which was aimed at providing affordable devices for the emerging markets. The phones that will be launched as a part of the Android One will cost around $100.
Micromax which is the most popular Indian smartphone brand will be releasing the first device of the Android One and it is likely to be released by October.
The Android One program guarantees that the phones that come out of it will run on the most recent Android release, as Google will push updates to those phones similar to the way it handles GPE devices.
Besides Micromax, Karbon and Spice are the other brands which have signed up for the Android One program and more recently Intex and Celkon have been added to the growing list.
Android One promises the most important features in the Indian market – FM Radio, Dual SIM support, microSD card and a low price.
