Multitasking is the need of the hour. We live in a time where performing more than one task at a time is absolutely essential. So a Smartphone that offers great multitasking experience will help an individual a lot. Multitasking sounds simple, but many apps that run at the same time may slow down the phone. Android OS helps in multitasking by killing certain apps that are not required. But there are many apps which run in background, consuming memory thus slowing down the phone. An effective solution to this is using the Greenify application.

Greenify puts the selected apps into a hibernation mode thus freeing up the memory consumed by them and making the Android¬†experience much smoother. It is very easy to use this app. The user just has to identify the app that is running in background that the user doesn’t want to, and put it into a hibernation mode. Then you’re free to launch them as you please. Once they’re no longer in the foreground, they’ll remain in the background until the screen is turned off for a short period of time. After that, they’ll be kicked out of memory and into a hibernated state.

Putting the app into the hibernation mode is a much better option than freezing the app using Titanium Backup. If the app is freezed, then again unfreezing them is a needless task which results in a waste of time. Instead, hibernate the app. One may argue that a task killer can be used. But after an app is killed using a task killer, it again starts running in background after a short period of time.

Greenify app must be used carefully by the users. It must be noted that once an app is put to hibernate, it won’t run in background. So the push notifications will not appear for the selected apps. Hibernating the messaging app and alarm clock app will be an extremely foolish thing to do.

Greenify app is available on the Google Play Store for free. It only works on the rooted devices running on Android 3.1 and above. Download it from here.
