Samsung has almost finished with the OTA Android Lollipop updates for the Galaxy S5 and its variants. Now its the turn of the Galaxy S4. And the first one to receive the Android Lollipop update is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Edition. Some of the UK users have got the OTA which will update their device to Lollipop with baseband version I9505XXUHOB7 and build number LRX22C.I9505XXUHOB7. If you are yet to receive the update, you can install the update manually. Follow the guide given below.

Steps to install Android 5.0.1 on Galaxy S4:

  1. Make a backup of your data.
  2. Extract the contents of Odin3 on your computer and install Odin on the PC.
  3. Turn off the phone and make sure it is not connected to the computer.
  4. Boot the phone into Download Mode by switching it off and then simultaneously pressing the Volume Down + the Home key button. While holding these both buttons, you need to switch on your device.
  5. Open Odin. Connect your phone to the computer and allow the drivers to install. You will see the “Added!!” message on Odin. If it doesn’t appear, make sure you have properly installed the USB drivers for your phone.
  6. In the Odin Menu, make sure to check the Auto-Reboot and F.Reset options.
  7. Download the firmware zip file on the computer. Extract it and you will get a file with .tar.md5 extension.
  8. Click the AP button in Odin and select the file extracted in the previous step. Do not make any unnecessary changes on Odin.
  9. Click the Start button in Odin and wait for a few moments.
  10. Phone will automatically reboot. Done !
