Samsung is rolling out the Android 5.0 updates for a lot of devices. The latest device to get this update is the Galaxy S5 Active. The update has been rolled out for the Nordic countries. The update is 1.4GB in size and has the build number G870XXU1BOB4. It has all the Lollipop features – new Material Design with multitasking UI, heads-up notifications, multiple user accounts, guest user mode, Android Smart Lock etc. If you have not received the update, follow the below guide to install it manually.

Steps to install Android 5.0 on Galaxy S5 Active:

  1. Make a backup of your data.
  2. Extract the contents of Odin3 3.09.zip on your computer and install Odin on the PC.
  3. Turn off the phone and make sure it is not connected to the computer.
  4. Boot the phone into Download Mode by switching it off and then simultaneously pressing the Volume Down + the Home key button. While holding these both buttons, you need to switch on your device.
  5. Open Odin. Connect your phone to the computer and allow the drivers to install. You will see the “Added!!” message on Odin. If it doesn’t appear, make sure you have properly installed the USB drivers for your phone.
  6. In the Odin Menu, make sure to check the Auto-Reboot and F.Reset options.
  7. Download the firmware zip file on the computer. Extract it and you will get a file with .tar.md5 extension.
  8. Click the AP button in Odin and select the file extracted in the previous step. Do not make any unnecessary changes on Odin.
  9. Click the Start button in Odin and wait for a few moments.
  10. Phone will automatically reboot. Done !
