HTC One M8

Soon after announcing its latest flagship device, HTC has confirmed that a Google Play edition of the smartphone will also be available in the Play Store. In fact, just like the quick availability of the standard One (M8), the Google Play edition is already live in the Play Store in the US for $699.

The GPe One will have the same specs as the standard One, viz. 5 inch display, 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB RAM, 16/32 GB internal storage options along with MicroSD card support, 4 UltraPixels rear “Duo Camera”, 5 MP front facing camera and 2600 mAh battery.

The only difference between the two is that the standard One will run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat coupled with HTC’s Sense 6 UI on top of with whereas the GPe One will run on stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat, like the one found on the Nexus 5.

The GPe One is available for pre-order for $699 in the Play Store, albeit only in the US for now. Thus fans of stock Android will have to shell out $99 more than the standard model. There is no news yet on the shipping date though.
