In a response to a query from a Twitter user, HTC has confirmed that the One Mini 2 wont be getting the official Lollipop update. Twitter users reacted angrily to this news as the One Mini 2 is barely a year old.
According to HTC, Android Lollipop wont provide optimal performance on the One Mini 2. HTC has given the reason as ageing hardware for no Lollipop update.
HTC One Mini 2 has almost the same specs as many of the mid range devices running on Android Lollipop. The only option for the One Mini 2 users to upgrade to Lollipop is the use of custom ROMs.
This move from HTC will leave many users annoyed. Many of them posted angry tweets regarding this and have threatened to leave HTC as a result of poor software support.
There is a slight possibility that the furore surrounding this news might force HTC to rethink about providing One Mini 2 with the Lollipop update. So don’t lose hope!
