HTC is releasing a lot of good mid range devices through the Desire series and another device launched in the Desire series is the Desire 616. It was launched in China in the weekend and it will soon release in other Asian countries and Russia.
Desire 616 offers good hardware for a reasonable price. It will have a 5-inch display with an HD (720×1280 pixels) resolution. Desire 616 is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. While HTC’s website does not name the processor, but it is rumored to be MediaTek. Desire 616 has 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB via the microSD card.
As for the camera, HTC Desire 616 boasts an 8 MP rear camera and a 2 MP front camera. It is capable of recording a full HD video. Desire 616 has dual SIM support, with one slot supporting the regular SIM while other supporting a micro SIM.
Desire 616 will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS with a layer of Sense 5.5 UI over it. It will have the Blinkfeed and the Zoe software as well. Desire 616 offers a 2000mAh removable battery. The wireless connectivity options for the Desire 616 feature Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, GPRS/ EDGE and 3G.
HTC Desire 616 will be available in black and white colors. It will cost $238. As of now, HTC has no plans to release it in other markets outside of Asia and Russia.
