Great news for Moto Razr users! Motorola has finally announced an OEM update to Android version 4.0.4 ICS. The long awaited update for the people’s favourite Moto has finally started rolling out. It has been a long time since the launch of ICS, and even the recent launch of Jellybean, all Moto users were eager to receive this essential update.
The update would had been rolled out much earlier if not for T-Mobile. Apparently T-Mobile wanted to customize the firmware and add a few bloat-ware of their own. However Google (soon to be the Motorola owner) didn’t allow T-mobile to make any such changes. After a long negotiation T-Mobile had to take back their demands and agree with this system upgrade. Before you run to grab your mobile and hit the Refresh button in the System Update dialogue box, make sure you have a proper Internet connection as it will be a long wait. The update is a massive 154MB so, keep a close watch at the data balance on your Mobile plan. Also, since it is a OTA (over the air) update, it may take a while to be available for your region!
Though it is a good news for all Moto Razr users, our friends at GSMArena have reported a few small problems with this update. The update is a little heavy on battery and also has some persistent message errors in the status bar which go only when the phone is restarted. But, they are really minor bugs which can be neglected! Do let us know how you feel about the update in the comments below.
