After months of wait and speculation, Google finally launched the much awaited Nexus 5. The Nexus 5 manufactured by LG went live on the Google Play Store. The Nexus 5 will indeed run on Google’s latest Android OS – KitKat (Android 4.4).
Nexus 5 has some powerful specifications. It sports a 4.95-inch 1920×1080 display (445 ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which can display full 1080p content. Nexus 5 is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM. It has a 2300mAh battery to support these impressive specifications. Google have also integrated wireless charging into the Nexus 5.
There have been some changes in the the Nexus 5 camera as well. It has a 8MP camera that features optical image stabilization which will help to capture shake-free shots. The primary camera also features HDR+, which takes a handful of shots and combines them into one single photo. Nexus also has a 1.3MP secondary camera.
Google released a statement, “Nexus 5 is available today, unlocked and without a contract, on Google Play in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan and Korea (and coming soon to India), starting at $349. Just in the time for the holidays, Nexus 5 will be available soon at the following retailers: Sprint, T-Mobile, Amazon, Best Buy and RadioShack.”
Nexus 5 16GB was sold out within a few minutes in the US after appearing on the Play Store. After sometime, it was made available again.
Nexus 5 comes in two colors – black and white. It has 16GB and 32GB storage options with no expandable memory. The 16GB Nexus 5 is priced at $349 while the 32GB Nexus 5 is priced at $399.
