LG Nexus 5X is the successor to LG’s highly popular Nexus 5 device which was launched a couple of years ago. Nexus 5X will provide various upgrades over the original Nexus 5 while the price range will almost remain the same.
Nexus 5X will sit just above the mid-range category. Nexus 5X will include a 5.2-inch Full HD LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3. LG did not have a QHD display with this device to keep the costs down.
Nexus 5X will be powered by 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor backed by 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. It will have internal storage of 16GB and 32GB. Many have felt that LG should have included a 64GB variant as well.
As for the camera, there are significant improvements here as well. Nexus 5X will have a 12.3MP rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture onboard, as well as a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. Nexus 5X wont have optical image stabilization. Nexus 5X will have 2700mAh battery.
Other features include fingerprint scanner (Nexus Imprint), USB Type-C port which will allow for faster charging.
Nexus 5X will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While it is not a major update from Lollipop, however it is significant enough. Android Marshmallow offers improved battery management, bug fixes, Google’s Now on Tap improved search technology, and the introduction of numerous new APIs offering support for fingerprint scanners and more.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow also adds greatly improved permissions, allowing you much more granular control over what parts of your phone experience your apps have access to.
Nexus 5X 16GB model will start at $379.99, and will begin shipping in October.
