Ringing Bells, an Indian company, has launched a new Android smartphone and it is the cheapest smartphone in the world – it is priced at only $3.66. Earlier they launched world’s cheapest 4G smartphone, Smart 101, and now they have launched Freedom 251 as it costs Rs. 251!
One might think it offers below par specs. But they seem good enough on paper. Freedom 251 will have a 4.0-inch qHD (960x540p) display. It will be powered by 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB RAM.
The internal memory of this device will be 8GB which can be expanded to 32GB with the use of microSD card. It also comes with two cameras — a 3.2MP snapper on the back and a 0.3MP shooter on the front. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and has a battery capacity of 1,450mAh.
Its quite unbelievable that the price of Freedom 251 is so low. This is due to the fact that this smartphone might be subsidized by the Central government as part of the Make in India, Digital India and Skill India initiatives.
It comes preloaded with a women’s safety app, and applications like Swachh Bharath, Fisherman, Farmer and Medical.
