All those people those are missing out on the action going on around in the Smartphone world must be wishing for a smartphone soon. Or even those who own an Android smartphone but don’t want to miss a second of it when using your PC. Do not worry, the wait is over!

Here is a way you can run almost any Android app on your PC! This has been made possible due to an application called “YouWave”. YouWave is a Android simulator that runs a simulation of the Android version 2.3.4, Gingerbread. It acts just like any Android device and can run a variety of Apps. It uses the Internet connection of your PC to connect to the Internet.

To Run YouWave on your PC, the requirements are:

  • Intel Pentium 1.6GHz CPU or higher
  • 1GB RAM or higher
  • 500MB disk space
  • Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 32/64 bit

YouWave is a paid application with a 7 day trial available. You can Download the Youwave software here.

YouWave however has its limitations; Apps that have ARM native code, require Flash, require Hardware Sensors, or use closed source APIs, are not supported. Some Applications are not officially supported by their vendors on platforms other than phones.

The installation process for installing Youwave is pretty similar to any normal software. Once you install the application, you’ll be asked to enter a Activation code or if you wish to just try the application; run the Trial version. When you run the application for the first time, you’ll receive a prompt from windows to allow access to the network. Grant access to the application so that it can connect to the Internet.

Once YouWave starts running, the screen will look something like this:

It is just like a fully functioning Android device and functions exactly like it. It takes input using your mouse and keyboards and uses the PC’s speakers for sound output.

There are two ways to Install Android Apps on your PC using YouWave:

  1. You can click on View >> Online content and then double click on Amazon AppStore. Register with the Appstore or login with your existing ID and Download Apps of your choice.
  2. You can simply Download the APK files from the Internet and place then in the folder mentioned in the Title bar of the YouWave window. For me it was “C:\Users\KT\youwave\android apps“. Then again, Select the YouWave window and press View >> Redraw Apps. Then press on the APK you downloaded and it will be installed on your PC!

Once the App is installed, you simply run the App the same way you do in an Android device. Now, you can enjoy any Android App on your PC and be in touch with all the action going on in the Android world!

Warning: While downloading the APK files of any App, make sure it isn’t a paid App because doing so would be considered piracy. Support Developers and buy Apps that you like!
