Samsung has announced the launch of the waterproof version of the Samsung Galaxy S4. It is named Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. It has almost the same specifications as that of the Flagship Galaxy S4.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Active will have the same 5″ 1080p screen (443 ppi), although it will be a LCD TFT. The processor is also same – 1.9Ghz quad-core. It will come with the same Touchwiz version as well as Android 4.2.2 OS. One significant change is the downgraded camera, which will be 8 megapixels. “Aqua Mode” can be used to increase visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and video. The IR port has made the transition to the more rugged model.
The Galaxy S4 Active has qualified protection from dust and water (IP67), so you never have to leave the device at home during a long day at the beach or dusty hike. The fully sealed design keeps dust particles out and protects against water damage for up to 30 minutes of submergence at a depth of one meter. Equipped with a water-resistant earphone jack, the Galaxy S4 Active frees you to use earphones in more adventurous conditions.
Galaxy S4 Active will be coming first to the United States and Sweden. It comes with many color variants – grey, blue and orange. The battery of Galaxy S4 Active is removable. Samsung hasn’t revealed the price of the Galaxy S4 Active yet.
