After the announcement of the HTC One M9, it was Samsung’s turn. They have announced 2 flagship devices – Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Both the devices will have same specs, but the S6 Edge will have curved display on both the edges.
Samsung has completely redesigned the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. The plastic body has been replaced with a metal one. This comes as a welcome change since the design of the Samsung flagships has been criticized for years. Samsung has taken a sly dig at Apple and have stated that the new Galaxy S6 “will not bend” as the body is 50% stronger than other high-end phones.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will have a 5.1″ QHD display with a pixel density of 577 per inch, which is 77% greater than the S5. It will be powered by its own 64-bit processor and the next generation DDR4 RAM. Samsung claims that the processor is 20% faster than the Galaxy Note 4 and 35% more power efficient.
Both the devices will have a 16MP rear camera with OIS and a 5MP front camera. The camera is always on standby, so a double-click of the home button makes the camera ready in just 0.7 seconds. Samsung have made a strong statement that both these devices take better low light pictures than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. There are 3 storage options – 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have built-in wireless charging. Samsung says the Galaxy S6 can charge enough to give four hours of use in just 10 minutes. Charging is said to be 1.5 times faster than last year’s S5. Samsung has also replaced the non-removable with a removable one.
Samsung Pay is another feature which has been added to both these devices. It is a wireless payment system on the same lines of the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The release date of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge is 10 April.
