Samsung are reportedly working on two new foldable devices. Sources have suggested that these foldable devices are in the final stages and they could be launched as early as the start of 2017 at the Mobile World Congress.
Both the foldable devices will be different. One of the two devices folds in half like a cosmetic compact, while the other one unfolds from a 5-inch form factor into an 8-inch one.
Samsung have been planning foldable displays since a long time. Initially they launched the flexible display phone Galaxy Round which was not much of a success. Later they launched curved screen phones in Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series, now they are taking it to next level.
One of the major problems associated with foldable display was to ensure that they could withstand thousands of bends without degrading image quality. It has taken time but Samsung have finally figured it out!
