[How To] Install Official CM 11 ROM on the Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000)

Custom ROMs act as a major upgrade from stock ROMs especially for users with devices that have stopped receiving official updates from their carriers or manufactures. Take the Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) for example. Launched in 2010, the now antiquated device was Samsung’s first smartphone from the flagship S series but stopped receiving official updates after Android 2.3. By flashing custom ROMs however, users can experience the latest Android OS on it. And the CyanogenMod team have also released their latest ROM for the device based on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

The Galaxy S had a 4″ Super AMOLED screen, 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM and 8/16 GB internal storage which could be further expanded up to 32 GB via a microSD card. It also had a 5 MP rear camera and a VGA front facing camera. We had previously seen how you can install Android 4.4 on it by flashing an unofficial version of the CM 11 ROM.
