The Android 4.4.1 update is up and running for the Nexus 10 tablet. The update for the 10 inch tablet is available via OTA for users to download. However, if you’re among the ones who are yet to receive it, there’s no need to fret as the OTA link has been captured and you can now manually install it. As seen with the previous articles, the update can either be adb sideloaded or flashed via a custom recovery. Check out the below steps and install the update by the method that suits you the best.

Pre-requisites and Backing up your Nexus 10:

Method 1 (via Custom Recovery):

Requirements:

  • Nexus 10 must be running on stock Android 4.4 KRT16S
  • OTA Survival must be disabled if you’re using SuperSU v1.69 or older
  • Nexus 10 must be rooted
  • Bootloader unlocked
  • Custom Recovery like CWM or TWRP installed
  • Official Android 4.4.1 update zip file

Steps:

  1. Download the official Android 4.4.1 update zip file and copy it to the root of the internal storage of your Nexus 10.
  2. Turn off your device and boot into recovery.
  3. Now select “Install Zip”, then “Select Zip” and choose the official Android 4.4.1 update zip.
  4. After the installation is complete, reboot your device.

Your Nexus 10 has been successfully updated to Android 4.4.1.

Method 2 (via ADB):

Requirements:

Steps:

  1. Download the official Android 4.4.1 update zip file to your computer.
  2. Reboot your device and while it is booting up, press and hold the Volume Down button.
  3. The fastboot menu will now appear on screen. Keep on pressing the Volume Up button until you see Recovery and then press the Power button to enter it.
  4. You will now see an Android with a red exclamation point. Press Volume Up and Power buttons together and select “apply update from adb”.
  5. Connect your tablet to your computer via USB.
  6. Now go to the location where you downloaded the official Android 4.4.1 update zip file and open a command window there by pressing Shift button of the keyboard and Right Click button of your mouse.
  7. Type the following command:
    adb sideload bab270d1d4d935e31f61b1dcf2e66600006c87f7.signed-mantaray-KOT49E-from-KRT16S.bab270d1.zip
  8. The installation process will now begin. After it is completed, reboot your device.

Your Nexus 10 has been successfully updated to Android 4.4.1.
