Xiaomi has launched the Mi 4i smartphone in India today at an event in New Delhi. It becomes the first phone to be launched outside of China from this manufacturer. Xiaomi has called this phone its flagship device.
The Mi 4i features some top of the line specs. It has 5″ full HD display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 615 chip and has 2GB of RAM. The primary camera is 13MP while the secondary camera is 5MP. The storage comes in 16GB with expandable memory.
Xiaomi’s head of global expansion Hugo Barra revealed that the Mi 4i would be 12% thinner and 13% lighter than the premium Mi 4 which was launched in 2014.
The phone will come with the company’s own MIUI 6 operating system which is built on Android, and it will come with an Indian-specific feature called Visual IVR (interactive voice response) which is a system of quickly navigating telephone complex answering systems. The MIUI software is also now available in six different Indian languages.
The Mi 4i will be available is 5 different colours – black, white, orange, light blue and pink. It will cost INR 12,999 and will go on sale in India from April 30.
